Learn how to verify whether a publisher’s test leads have been received, processed, and delivered correctly within a specific campaign.

This video explains how to check test leads submitted by publishers:

When to Use This

Use this workflow when:

  • A publisher says they’ve sent a test lead, and you want to confirm receipt

  • You need to verify if a test was accepted, rejected, or failed delivery

  • You’re troubleshooting campaign setup with a new publisher

How to Check Test Leads

  1. Open the relevant campaign

  2. Go to the Lead Lookup tab

  3. Toggle on Include Test Leads

  4. (Optional) Filter by:

    • Publisher

    • Specific email or phone

    • Accepted or rejected status

    • Fields to display in the table

  5. Review the results in the table

What to Look For

In the lead table, check:

  • Lead Status – Whether Opta accepted or rejected the lead

  • Publisher Payload – What the publisher posted into Opta

  • Posting URL – The destination (e.g., your buyer or internal endpoint)

  • Posted Data & Response Text – What was sent to the destination and what came back

Interpreting Test Results

  • A true response indicates a successful post

  • A false or failed response may signal that:

    • The campaign is paused

    • The payload was incorrect

    • The destination rejected the lead

Test Flag Behavior

  • During testing, the payload should include test=true

  • Test=true will bypass Opta rejections other than those critical to getting the posting structure correct.

  • Test=true will not send the lead to your campaign's endpoint

  • After approval, live traffic should either include test=false or remove the test parameter entirely

Summary

Lead Lookup makes it easy to confirm whether publisher test leads were received and processed correctly. You’ll see exactly what was posted into Opta, what was sent to the destination, and whether it succeeded—so you can resolve issues fast.
