Learn how to use Opta’s global suppression list to block specific records—such as emails, phones, or IPs—from being accepted across all campaigns.

This video explains how to upload and manage global suppression records:

What the Global Suppression List Does

Use this feature to prevent Opta from accepting:

  • Users on a Do Not Contact list

  • Existing customers or subscribers already in your database

  • Duplicate or non-compliant records

The suppression list applies across all campaigns in your account.

Supported Formats

You can suppress records by:

  • Email

  • Phone number

  • IP address

Opta supports:

Download a sample file directly from the Suppression page to see formatting requirements for each field type.

How to Upload Suppression Records

  1. Go to Campaigns > Suppression

  2. Choose the suppression type (Email, Phone, IP)

  3. Select the format (Plain Text or MD5)

  4. Upload your file

  5. Confirm successful upload—suppressed record count will update

Once uploaded, those records will be blocked across all campaigns. You can download the active suppression list at any time to share with partners.

Summary

The global suppression list is a simple but powerful compliance tool. It lets you centralize suppression and enforce rules across your entire Opta environment—no need to manage it campaign by campaign.
